So many concerts I'm excited about here in the big A. Friday is Robbers on High Street at the Earl. Monday is Nada Surf which I am afraid I may have to miss. And Tuesday is New Pornographers at Variety, which I will definitely attend.
Can't complain about the rain, we need it so badly, but if it could rain straight down just like its Scotland this week and clear up for the weekend through Halloween on Wednesday... Who do I contact to align the stars?! ;)
Ping me if you are attending any of the above
There was a time when I blogged daily, mostly about podcasting. Then I took a break. And unfortunately, I then made a very sad mistake. When a renewal notice for podcrawl.com came from NetSol, I tried unsuccessfully to transfer it to my GoDaddy account so I could renew at a cheaper price. Though I hit a glitch, which I no longer recall, and gave up frustrated. Rather than just paying the extra twenty bucks, I lost my domain. Stupid id10t mistake!
When I received a beta invite for vox, I quickly took the opportunity to set up hilary.vox.com as well as podcrawl.vox.com. I also started blogging at tpn.thepodcastnetwork.com, where I attempted to blog the day-to-day at TPN and strike up a convo. That had some obstacles and so didn't last too long, though I still keep a close eye on the network and still listen to several of the TPN podcasts. These days I mostly microblog at twitter.com/podcrawl. It is good to have somewhere to blog, even though these days it's strictly for me to journal...i.e. writing for me though keeping it public. I'm an F-lister - I contribute Fuck all to the conversation, but at least I'm listening! ;)
Moving week is now over! *long, exasperated sigh of relief*
Not as bad as expected actually. I am completely unpacked, but not everything is put away yet. I hit the ground running with a few projects that wouldn't wait. But nothing seems to have gone missing, which is lovely. I threatened to pack my Cinema Display in my car instead of letting the movers take it.
I have a bigger office and they dropped halogen lighting by special request. Fluorescent no more!! Actually, they insisted on putting in both, so I have the option to turn on either. Stupid.
Anyway, the office is also closer to home, which is nice. My old office was smack in the middle of everything though. I could walk everywhere for lunch, errands, etc. Now I must get in my car to get most anything. There is a small cafe in walking distance and a ritzy club dining room, which I can't afford, though our office does have membership.
We are on the top floor of our building. The "big guy" has an office with three walls ceiling-to-floor glass that overlooks the Buckhead skyline. Rather cool...not sure I'd ever get anything done in that office.
Before our company occupied two and a half floors, whereas now we are all on one big floor. I'm thinking many of us will see much less of each other since we won't meet on the stairs. I certainly hope it's not all quiet in my new area. Though I did also request two doors, so I'm not isolated from either side. Lots of people are already apologizing for "cutting through" my office and I've quickly assured them all that I prefer it and to please continue. If I need quiet time, I'll close the doors.
I'll take my camera & snap some pics when it clears up again (rainy & dark this weekend). Off for now to relax before another week of settling in.
This photo is from a One-on-One concert featuring The Fray. My good friend won tickets on the radio and she took me. I had a blast with my friend, but I hated the Fray. Since I don't listen to radio, I didn't even know who they were. We had more fun afterwards, though I got terribly drunk.
Why is it that inevitably, at the end of a perfectly fine evening, someone always yells "Shots!"? What's worse, I didn't have shots, I was given a small glass of Absolut Ruby Red. As soon as I finished it, about 7 full sips I might add, I knew my night would not end well. I was IMMEDIATELY drunk. Fortunately though, my friend drove me home shortly after and I had three Advil & a vitamin pack before falling into a deep sleep (read: totally passed out). The Advil & vitamin pack (GNC packs) is the way to go to avoid hangover. Though I did still require my usual hangover helper...wanna know? Kinda disgusting, but I like to have a can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup heated with about half the water it calls for...totally coats the stomach and then I'm right as rain.
Why is it so hard to stop blogging if you're on a roll and so hard to get back to it if you stop?
Well, I've been enjoying my little blog vacation, but I keep getting that little nagging feeling to come back to it. The problem is, no one gives a rats ass what anyone else thinks for the most part, so who am I writing to? When I wrote for podcrawl, it was topical so I didn't feel like a self-indulgent wanker, writing and expecting people to care. Though in retrospect, it was total rubbish a good part of the time. Is it possible to produce a blog that isn't total crap without it being essential to your day job? I mean, blogs that people actually make a point to read are mostly written by tech & pr evangelists or gadget salespeople who make money from blogging even if indirectly. The others are usually still total wankers who are just fortunate enough to be funny. Maybe I'm just jealous of all those bloggers living on the left coast, where I wish to be. Wondering why you've just wasted precious time from your life by now I'm sure, so I'll quit bitching for now.
Do you play any musical instruments?
Drums...best when I'm drunk and/or angry. ;)
